Do you want to save a couple of $? Is this a cranked up build? How are you planning to to attach the LS1 brakes to the axle?

By cranked up, I mean 600+hp.

1st, drums work fine with sub 400 hp. 2nd, if you are going to weld on brackets for the LS1 brakes, then can get by with junkyard 2wd S10 axles and weld your brackets on in the appropriate locations. The S10 axles are approx 3/16-1/4” longer but will easily ride in the stock wheel bearing location. If budget is not a concern, then stop with using a 7.5” housing. 3rd, stock master cylinder is going to need to be replaced.

What year car are you building?
