Happy Thanksgiving GBODY, I have an 85 Regal and was hoping someone could help with some shifting issues. I could start the car and drive for a short while before it starts to act up....it seems to be losing power shifting from 1st to 2nd....it moves up okay then just drops. People have mentioned vacuum lines, torque converter...IDK ... ide like to troubleshoot but don't know much about either of these parts. Thanks for the help.

did you check the fluid level with the car in neutral and up to operating temperature?.....if it is low do not use turkey gravy to top it up...:)

I filled it up to level and checked it after warming up and it was good...this problem has gone on for a while, just now getting around to it....

what transmission do you have?....if it is a th350/400 it could be a vacuum leak on the line going to the modulator or the modulator could be defective.

So it has issues shifting or lags, but only warm ? I doubt the torque converter, more modulator valve related. So that being said, look at vacuum leak, modulator, but l'd really thinking springs.

Vacuum leak wouldn't matter on temp, modulator should work better when warm, but springs become softer/weaker with heat.

Just a thought.

Awesome going to check this out tomorrow...I'm also going to look at my Haynes manual to see if it mentions anything regarding this modulator.
Springs?

I think I have enough info to get a good start on trouble shooting. I'll definitely check out the pan..it's been a while since I've last checked but I want to say it's the 200
