Did an oil change on my TBSS today and part of that procedure is emptying and cleaning out the catch can. Keep in mind this is just a modified eBay unit (internal straw and scouring pads). The oil was last changed on 26 Nov 17 as the vehicle didn't get a lot of use in the Spring/Summer/Fall thanks to the wagon, and many of its trips are short runs into town.

And this is what I found:

It looks like my coffee.

Poured a solid 2 ounces out of frothy garbage, and then rinsed it out with brake cleaner. There was none of this under the fill cap.

The point is if you don't put one on your engine you risk missing clues like this, and also allow all that crap to get pulled into the intake.

More than just condensation? Think it's a blown head gasket?
I had a similar experience today on a friend's '10 f150, 4.6: a ton of schmegma on the inside if the oil fill and "PCV" line. I attributed it to condensation build up because of his extremely short commute. The truck never gets warmed up enough to burn off the water mist....

Did all of the oil look like that?
Can you look in the rocker cover when you remove the oil fill cap?

I installed a catchcan too from Moroso. Nothing fancy, but gets the work done. Up til now, after 1 season, I had a spoon of oil in there. Looks like the engine runs pretty okay here ^^

Definitely not a blown HG or a head lifting under boost. The rest of the oil was normal and no coolant is missing.

No issues with the oil, and pulling the valve covers would take hours.

Yes, stock and some check valves for redirecting the vacuum source to the blower inlet to create crank-case vacuum under boost.

If your not going to investigate your clues why have it. That's not right!

Which I did and everything is okay - root cause being condensation build up from short drives in the Winter.
