Just picked up Doc's '88, it's #1 of 4 '88 Hurst Olds' he produced in '88 to pitch the 20th Anniversary edition to GM but was denied due to the phasing out of the RWD Cutlass mid year. He went on to produce 120 Aero kits himself for others to do the conversion themselves. If it was installed on an '88 it was a 20th Anniversary Hurst Olds. If installed on any 81-87 Cutlass it was known as an Aero Commemorative.

For those who aren't familiar with this car, after Doc's passing last year the bank reposed it a year ago due to a lien on it. The car wound up sitting in a bank lot and going to various auctions over the past year until it sold a few months ago to a car flipper and then sat on Craigslist unsold. He didn't accurately know the history of the car and finally just wanted it gone. Guy was very difficult to deal with to say the least...

This was Doc's personal vehicle for many years, probably has over 225k miles on it, has seen a few repaints and engines in it's day from a 640ci DRCE, 455, Ram Rod 350 and now currently has a 307. Rumor is cooling issues were the reason for the DRCE and 455 being swapped out.

Here are some photos I took of it back in 2010 at the Cars of Hurst display at MCACN

Gotta say, the body mods are dumb looking to me, but the car itself is cool and has a great history. Great find!

Frikin cool!
All I'm saying is G Bodies don't look good with body kits. They just don't. They look fine as they are. It's not like a civic or eclipse than can pull it off easilly. You're putting a dust ruffle on a brick with wheels. But to each their own.

Very nice score. I'm glad to see that the car went to someone who appreciates it, and it's undeniable history...:)
Thanks for sharing the pics and giving us a brief history of the car.

Really - that's cool!!

Congrats on acquiring another piece of Olds history. I'm thinking that with your collection, you should start an Olds museum..

Nice I learned something new. I have to agree with MrSony, the kit is not my taste. But cool car either way.

Its a cool car. Glad to see it gone to someone who will appreciate it and preserve it. Got to admit that I think the body kit is a bit excessive. I'm curious about the seats, the shifter setup, and the rims. Are they special to this car?

great find. I'm glad it was found by someone who cares. great history lesson. but i gotta say, i LOVE those rims. i have a set of original 14" hurst rims from the sixties and those rims on your car in chrome look fantastic. its a shame they don't market them.
