Hey guys, so the thing is that my 86' MC has this style of steel rims.
chevrolet-s10-wheels-1204-b.jpg

I found some dog dish style hubcaps and they mostly fit but I can't get them pass one of the little knubs on the rim when trying to install them, every time. Also I notice 2 of the knubs are like hooks to hold caps. I think they will fit but I don't know how to make them fit or install them. Any ideas? Also, these are the caps I found

There were multiple size 'poverty'/dog-dish caps throughout the years. Same w/options on wheels that are possible.

Seeing the cap in the image.... it's one I'm not familiar with (& I am a longtime GM poverty cap enthusiast).

Have you measured each part to verify the dimensions are correct (similar)? The caps for most common 14/15" disc brake GM passenger car steel wheels are 10 1/8" ID. After that, some were 9.X" & HD trucks used 12" caps.

Thanks for your reply, I measured the diameter of one of those caps and it is 10 and a half inches in diameter. The rims are about the same from knub to knub

My method for installing is to 'hook' two nubs/tabs within one side of the cap pressing firmly using my hand/palm to hold the cap in place.

I then use the edge of my fist from my other hand or a rubber mallet to tap the opposite side of the cap over the opposite side nubs on the wheel.

Care needs to be taken when doing this 2nd part. The caps can easily get tweaked if you don't apply the force to pop them on close enough to the far outer edge of the cap (yellow or red areas highlighted in the images). Aftermarket caps are much worse about this issue as the material is thinner.

Some plain steelies have only 3 'nubs'. It's the same concept though. Hook & press the cap over two of the nubs & pop it over the 3rd nub on the opposite side.
I also use a long angled tip pry bar to pop the caps off. Deeper dish wheels require some finesse to keep from scratching the wheel surface (depending on back-spacing).

Yeah, they didn't work and I damaged one trying to install it. It seems that they are like .7 inches less than they need to be. Any link to where I can buy hubs for that specific rim?

In the image below.... The three matching caps are S10 spec dog-dish/poverty caps. The 4th cap is a C10 81-87 vintage dog-dish/poverty cap. They are all the 10 1/8" size that should work w/an S10 spec steel wheel.
The C10 caps are easy to find (Craigslist; E-bay). The S10 caps are out there but get expensive for NICE (take-off quality) caps. Less for 'used' caps.

Find one of the C10 variety (since they're cheaper/easier to find) to confirm it fits your wheel as it should. If so, hunt for the S10 caps or look for any 10 1/8 GM passenger car cap that you like the looks of.

Alright, thank you. And yeah I was checking the measurements and the 2 bigger nubs from the rim measure 10.5 inches exactly from one to the other. So I guess I'm going to be looking for any dish caps with that measurements.

I don't recognize the caps you initially posted the image of & I'm a geek for steelies & poverty caps.
I have dog-dish caps on my Malibu (60's era), my 64 C10, my 67C10, my 3/4 ton, my trailer, & Cabriolet. My dually even uses full caps that resemble poverty caps too.

I recently bought a set of g-body era (78-88) poverty caps for the Malibu as well.

After proof reading..... It appears I might have a poverty cap issue.
