Door hinge question

Yup, i have some on my GP. If i were you i would rebuild them to avoid having to them in a long time before installing them.

Thanks for the info! I think I'll do with the rebuild kit. Do they sell those at stores like autozone?

Yeah, pretty cheap can't remember how much though. Its much easier to rebuild them while their off. A vise works good and a 2lb sledge and a good punch you can drive them off and install them.

Believe it or not you can still buy these new from GM. But man they are expensive! To do all 4 hinges it would cost close to $500. 🙁

The rebuild kit should work unless yours are so worn out that the bushings don't fit snug either. This was the case with my driver's side hinge so I ended up welding the hole and recontouring it so the bushings would fit correctly.

You also generally don't need to touch the lowers. The uppers are what tend to wear out.

My driver side upper is worn bad. I might be able to replace the pin and bushing but there is another problem. That do hicky with the indentations on it that makes the door stop at certain positions is also worn out where it pivots and it makes it pop and sometimes the spring flies off. Is there any way to repair that? I don't think I have seen a bushing made to replace that.

yes in the HELP section @ Autozone you can get the rebuild kits, it cost me around $25-30 to do all 4 hinges, including replacing the rollers. The good thing about getting a set of hinges from a 4 door is they arent usually as worn as bad as the 2 door, but either way its cheap enough to replace the bushings.Nothing sucks more than having a saggy door
