Door is sagging pretty bad. Gradually got worse since I owned it. It's to the point where I think I'm gonna break the window when I slam it shut. Will a kit from an auto part store be what I need to fix this? 173401 and 173354 is the top hinge....

Can't really see the pin or bushing on the upper, but the lower looks like pins/bushings should get it. The roller is a little harder to find sometimes.

I use Astro van pins and bushings, the Astro pieces have a retainer on them that takes the place of staking the pins to prevent the pin from coming out.

Main thing to look for is whether or not the pin has worn through the bushing completely and eaten into the hinge base metal.

Oh. I wasn't sure if something was broken. Top hinge looks like a pc is bent or something.

Looks like that pin is sitting in that bent pc? Does it look like I need new hinges?

It looks like a pin and bushing kit is not going to fix your hinge. Usually it's the driver's door that shows the most wear and I would order a complete upper and lower hinge assy. The passenger side Could be saved with just pins and bushings.
ps: the doors are heavy

That's the roller pin, works against the detent arm and spring to hold the door partially open.

I don't think anybody makes these for G bodies, I know you can buy the roller and pin from GM for later trucks, might work, but I have not had to replace one on a G body yet

As long as your hinge halves are good, no reason not to rebuild with new pins and bushings.

A quick tip, IF you can get access to the pins and remove them from the hinge with the hinges still bolted to the car, it will be much easier to realign the doors upon reassembly. At work, we sometimes use a belt sander to cut the pin and then remove the rest with a punch/chisel...but the older ones are sometimes really stuck in there.

Plan on getting some help, the coupe doors are very heavy...I dropped one on my big toe 25 years ago, and was afraid to look in my sock because i was sure i had severed it. Nope, just hurt like hell and bled a lot....eventually lost the nail.

I knew it looked bad but wasn't sure if a "kit" would be good enough....passenger side shuts pretty nice. Is it better to bring to mechanic or do myself? I don't have anyone to help me....

Ed, I don't agree. As long as the hole isn't majorly oblonged, they'll repair.

IF I was going to replace the hinge, I'd look for a good used one before I'd buy repro...even if i had to put pins and bushings in it.

I'm more of a repair vs replace guy, but have the benefit of the tools and experience to do most things myself

I guess a bushing is a bushing and if the holes are reamed round then a larger bushing will fit.
