I think I am going to be stealing 565bbchevys style very soon since I just got the tax return, was going to go Hertz components up front but now thinking about doing the JL setup. As mentioned my fear is the magnet because the Hertz is a pro speaker I have a feeling might be too deep to work, but then again thought about just running a spacer to make it work.

On both my Monte and Regal since they power windows I installed 6.5" door speakers where the window switch would be and moved the switch to the lower door panel.
On my Monte I installed a component set up and put the tweeters where the 3.5' speakers were and the Regal I installed new 3.5" and have a 2 way door speaker.
I also made the upper door panels to make a dedicated spot for the speakers.

This is an idea I’d like to use I also have power windows as far as I can tell it seems as simple as cutting the door panel and metal door frame to fit the speaker then mounting the speaker and rerunning the switch wiring down next to the power lock switch after cutting the hole for the power windows. Are there any steps I’m missing?

Also since you’ve done it if someone didn’t much care about staging is there room somewhere around there for the tweeters from a component set or would you say the dash locations are the best bet?

I like that the door panels don't look hacked up for the speakers. If i was to do this, I would probably try painting the grilles to match to help them blend in a little, but I'm just weird that way

Kickpanels are always an option.

If not, I think those door panels from dixie could work well, If you need more depth for the speaker magnet, you can add a spacer (speaker ring) to the wrong and wrap over it. If you feel like doing a project, grab some fiberglass, a router, some wood, and you can make your own.

I will hopefully be testing that out soon, I was thinking I will need a spacer but will see once it is in place

Got 8s in all 4 doors of Chinco today. Another project put to bed. Disclaimer: I wanted to finish these, and the owners plan clashed with mine. They get installed unfinished and I'm out!

This is my door speaker setup, I had to space them out a bit because the magnet was hitting the window track a little. But boy it's very clear and close to the ears.

I believe I am gonna have to do a similar style, gonna try to stick to a round setup though so the door panel looks as stock as possible
