Downpipes for Thorton manifolds?

Considering throwing my headers in the trash. After beating them into fitting (1/8" clearance in some places), doing a custom steering shaft and grinding this and that I can't make them work switch my shifter linkage. I'm over them.

87 Monte Carlo, 383, column shift, 2004r.

Will the Thorton manifolds fix my clearance issues? What downpipes are needed? I read some info about the angles working but needing specific down pipes.

What engine du you run? Thornton Manifolds are, as far as I know, not intended for chevy-engines.

Sbc, 383, angle plug heads. They make some for sbcs too.

Run a a set of shorty headers if the column shift is the issue. Have a shop make the down pipes.

It's a small block in a Monte/GBody the most common swap there is.

I think he means that he had to beat the tubes down to get at least an 1/8th of an inch clearance between the tubes and the frame or other car components

Yep ur correct I read it wrong.

Still this is the most common swap for these cars, or was now that the LS is around.

Either way something wrong is being done.

Wrong headers maybe......

What is the brand/part number on the headers??

Thornton is not that far from where I live. They cater to Oldsmobiles. I was just on their site and they do not list any manifolds for small block Chevrolets. If you want performance Chevrolet manifolds you should try https://www.castheads.com/manifolds-carb/exhaust-manifolds/

That's what I thought, because Thornton Manifolds look dope Do you have any experiences though with castheads.com? I was tempted to buy a pair of these, but I still don't know if its worth to have them imported...
