Maybe. I would have been much less of a pain just replacing the A/C compressor. I ordered a 03Dodge Dakota top hose for a 4.7. It has to be that one, the 3.9 and 5.9 have the two piece top hose with the filler in the middle. Still need to figure out the belt, trying to figure out the length needed.

I think you spent more on repairing the old AC compressor (tools), than just replacing it. I'm thankful I bought a really nice compressor for $35, and I had the AC delete pulley from another project. So that PIA can go away for most others who decide to convert. The radiator hose that supposedly works is AC Delco 26003X, or that Mopar one that other Member had used. (I haven't bought either one yet, to know for sure) . I think you should get your daughter involved here... insert your ratchet into the tensioner, and have her hold it in the middle of it's range while you measure the length with some rope/wire. This should get you close. IIRC alot of the aftermarket belts have their length incorporated into it's part # ( ex. 7819 = 78" belt ) so if you have to return it, simply ask for the next part #.. 7919, 8019, 8119 etc. I originally wanted to run a mechanical fuel pump for simplicity, and reliability, but about a month ago when I started seriously gathering parts for this conversion, I decided to run an electrical fuel pump installed with a relay. Thanks for posting your progress. Looking forward to the final result... which I hope is Satisfaction!
BTW, I'm sending my Mustang pulley to Larry for modification.

So... More trouble than it's worth?
I think not. When I actually install this setup, I will line out every single part... it's part #, origin, and price.

Good idea, there needs to be a sticky. I bent a turnbuckle I had, too long but a shorter one should line up where the old non A/C alternator top bracket bolted to the intake. Here is the belt installed, maybe the tension is OK.

What are you guys thoughts on the belt tension? I will compare to to the truck and Challenger. I picked up a couple of small turnbuckles to support the passenger side bracket. Top hose will be in Thursday. So just wire the alternator, fill the coolant and power steering and put in a battery to fire. I hope my new Remy 105 amp CS130 CS130 alternator doesn't squeak. Sounded squeaky spinning the pulley. It is supposed to new, not reman and a lifetime warranty.

I like it

especially after watching that AC belt on the factory Olds setup bounce around.

No wonder Olds uses the lower rad hose with a shield on it

Here is what I did with the top hose. There is no way a Dodge Dakota hose will work, it is a two piece hose. Unless you have the middle piece with the rad cap, even then don't think so. Unless it is off the next gen Dakota. I have a 2000 Dakota to look at right next to the 88. I had a brand new Gates top hose. I actually used a new bottom hose off a 71 Cutlass. I bought both hoses for 71 due to the water pump outlet change over. The 70 bottom hose is different as is the top, the bottom wouldn't really work on my 70. I planned on using both on my 70S but will order hoses for a 70. The 71 bottom hose fit my 88 quite well after trimming 3" off it. I used that 3" piece with a 6"×1.5" barbed on both ends. It nicely pushes the hose forward enough to clear.

Ok, I never even thought to look on the tensioner. There is a big arrow to the left and a scale like timing marks to the drivers side on the bottom. There is to lines, looks like it is supposed to line up with the scale. I am thinking it is very close or just over maximum tension but has not been started and broke in.

Just glanced over this and was thinking maybe the smaller power steering pulley is designed into the system. That would make a difference in the required belt length.
