Two upgraded 3.5" in the dash and a pioneer 5" or 6" under the passenger seat. All powered by a cheap Ebay $30 50Wx2 AM/FM with Aux input. I also had a terrible sounding cassette player I just removed, also tied in. I did have a factory Freightliner AM/FM Cassette, I was going to install in it's place but thieves stole it during the great garage heist.

Well I got the A/C charged. Of course it leaked at the big line on the accumulator, needed double O rings. I also needed double O rings at cycling switch. Of course it wants to shoot at defrost and the floor. I thought I replaced the leaking selector valve, maybe the other one is leaking. I had to tighten up the air gap on the new clutch. Now it engages everytime. The compressor is actually fairly quiet. The gamble seems to have paid off, considering it had sat for 5 years on the shelf.

Well I checked the charge last night, there must be a leak. Not at the accumulator or anywhere on the lines. I can hear a hissing noise at the compressor when shut down, could it be the shaft seal? The compressor sounds good still but is cycling too much, a sure sign of a low charge. The Schrader valve where I was charging it was pissy, tried changing it couldn't get in far enough but thought I got it sealed.

No need, I found it. It is leaking by the high pressure switch in the compressor. I assume it is held in by a O ring and snap ring? I have two A/C O ring kits, one for the 88 and one for the 94 that I cannibalized half the system for. I can hear a hissing there and oil is seeping out. I will let it bleed down and replace the O ring.

I still need to figure out the controls. I am pretty sure I replaced the one switch. I see they are $75 for that vacuum switch, I want air out the vents again.

Well nothing obvious, everything intact and no hissing from the controls like there used to be. There is some air from the vents, just not much.

Well, I pretty much want to drive this car off a cliff! Made the slight radiator leak worse by tightening the lower clamp. Pulled the hose thinking I might have got the spring between the hose and nipple. Nope collapsed the nipple. It may have been the rad cap so I switched that from a 7 to a 16 pound cap. I put a new O ring in the A/C compressor at the high pressure switch. Still leaks of course it does, must be compromised on the switch. I ordered a new high pressure switch and connector. I assume power and ground is needed on this switch? I wanted to take this stupid car on a trip this weekend, not going to happen..

Looks like the high pressure cutoff for the A/C just needs to be tied into the the green A/C wire and grounded. Hopefully it won't just be two grey wires this time.

So my understanding is this A/C pressure switch, despite being on the high side is also a low pressure cutoff switch. So high pressure be dammed🙂. I know it is hard on the pump to run on low pressure. I shot some oil in the compressor before installing and a whole can when charging. Should I add more oil when I recharge, since some is leaking out through the switch?
