Well, the extra layers of red paint or driving faster killed the MPG. Maybe old gas? Dragging tail pipe, yeah it happened. Either way the Accel coil and Ignitor 3 module did squat. I went from 26 mpg to 21.5 mpg imperial:(. I need to get 225/70R14's in place of the 235/60R14's on the back, drop another 100+ RPM at 60 mph.

What's the cruise rpm now at 60?

Also, do you have ethanol free fuel available in your area?

My RPM is 1900 at 60 mph and my tach is on the fritz. The speedo is 10 km an hour slow. Either way 60 to 68 mph on that trip and the wind picked up on the way home. I may have the tinest manifold to motor exhaust leak or too much timing. I may have fouled the plugs some, I used Kleenflo combustion chamber cleaner. I sprayed till it stalled and emptied the can. It loosens stuck rings, carbon and sludge. I changed the oil and used thicker 10W40 and 5/20W50 sort of a synthetic blend. The bottom end is dying, just under 20 psi cruising hot oil pressure. I think I may switch to an aluminum/plastic one core rad. This aluminum 2 core is filled full of stop leak, in this case stop any cooling ability. It got to 200 on the gauge which 10 high but still. Pretty sure there is a 180 thermostat according to the heat gun and it was only 10 or so above freezing. Those warmer temps should have helped mileage, not hurt.

I like this idea. Putting the 260 to use is practical. Since those 260's were often times put in front of 2.29's, I wonder what a set of maybe a 2.73's or some 3.08's might do for you. One thing I liked about those little 260's was I could not tear them up. I would purposely go thousands of miles without changing the oil, just to see how long it would last. I gave in before that Oldsmobile V8 did. Keep the dualjet and keep the maint. cost low.

This one has forced air through the hood scoop, dual exhaust and 3.42 gears, they work great with the 2004R. I even had headers and 2.5" dual exhaust which made it very peppy for a 260. The weight of this Brougham at 3750 pounds is against in mileage, I think going slower will help.

I plan on a set of Bosch Platinum plugs I have laying around. I would like NGK Iridium plugs but probably $10+ here per plug, if I can find them. That and hopefully the taller 225/70R14 rear tires will make a difference. I also plan on keeping the speed around 60 mph, should help a lot.

Post some mpg numbers when you get them.
