Hmm, I didn't think of galvanic corrosion. I actually have two patch on there you can't see in aluminum, they worked quite well for about 10 years. I may remove the new ones and just go the filler route, which isn't good either. This car's life and value is very limited. I make the paint look great, it turns into a $2000 car. Basically it is an experiment to see if I can make this car look passable and improve on the final job for the 70S when I do it.

I used pop rivets for years for patches never had an issue.

Maybe 20 years from now it will be a problem.....someone else's problem.

I recieved a couple of parts from Rock Auto. New A/C clutch and a new Remy 105 amp alternator with a lifetime warranty. I will be installing both them this week. The serpentine belt, wiring connectors for the alt and A/C along with the orfice tube and o rings still need to come. I can get a reciever dryer for a good price locally. I still need to get the crank pulley but it is in town. Soon an alternator that isn't noisy and actually charges properly and A/C again! Hopefully my marginal rad will keep up.

I am swapping the A/C clutch, what a b*tch on these R4 compressors. The one tutorial pointed out GM's compressors are a b*tch. I need a wide 2 jaw puller to finish the job. Good another $50.

Well, I bought a 6"× 3.5" spread puller and of course it is just a little too small to pull the big part of the clutch. I may need to order in the 3 jaw, 7" spread one.

Isn't there a puller made for those clutches that screws in the face of the clutch you should check Amazon

Have that one, outer clutch is removed. GM in theirp wisdom made a puller necessary to pull the big piece that is the pulley as well. The inner magnetic clutch also needs pryed off. Supposedly these R4 are among the most difficult to service.

I bought the 7" spread by 5 3/4" reach, still not quite long enough. Since they were the same brand I added the link off the other puller, too long and awkward. So I drilled the middle of those two links, perfect with the extra 1/2 link reach. The bottom ceramic piece also needed pulled off. Even big pry bars didn't pry it like suggested in the video.

Got my crank pulley and got the reverse rotation water pump installed. The old pump on the 260 is a nice closed impeller cast iron pump, a good spare.
I got everything on the compressor clutch except the top plate. I am going to try a 3/8" fine thread nut, my puller isn't set up to pull it on, it is not Metric 1.5 thread, the 3/8" seems to fit, to pull the plate to the .030" air gap needed. I am ordering a new reciever/dryer and then just add oil and and charge the A/C once I get the serpentine belt set up on.
