I have a g force crossmember in my car. Pretty much, it is very hard to remove the crossmember with the mount still attached to the transmission because of the stud on the mount. The bolts that hold the mount on the trans are really a pain to get to with the crossmember in place. I was wondering if I drilled two holes in the crossmember big enough for a socket to go through to get to the bolts that hold the mount to the trans, if it would weaken the crossmember a lot? It would make life so much easier to be able to get a socket on these bolts, but wont do it if it will make stuff weaker.

Drill baby drill, go for it. If you notice cracking or deformation later, you can weld it back up.

how often do you have to remove the crossmember? If you remove the nut on the stud can you not lift the transmission enough to clear that stud or at least give you better access to the two bolts on the mount?
