I own a 4door 81 Malibu that was in a car accident that ruined both my driver side doors. They've been replaced but the original mirror was destroyed. I bought a cheap after market and decided to use that but it dosent give me d*** for a view behind me. It was the chromed mirror not the painted sporty lookin ones. I've been having a hard time finding one in my area and very much distrust after markets. Does anyone have one to sell or point me in a derection of a decent aftermarket replacement?

Can you post an image of the mirrors? I bought some re-pop units that have worked well. My chrome set-up had the 'remote/cable' adjusted driver side. The cable set-up didn't work + wouldn't let me adjust the mirror by hand to where I needed (mirror would adjust too high/too low vs. where I needed; there was no 'in between') . I got the re-pops (both are now manual mirrors) & they've been in place for ~2yrs w/o issue.

Those look like the replacement units I'm using & similar to the original ones that were on the car when I replaced them.

The factory manual adjust chrome mirror should look like this...

Gives you an idea of what you're looking for.
Agreed. These mirrors look like what I pulled of of the '78 I did the swap on. I initially tried some 68-72 A-body replacement mirrors but they were a no-go. The location of the holes in the door + the differences in the mirror bases put the A-body mirrors too far back for a good visual (they did look much better as they were much closer to the actual body). The replacements I got after trying the A-body mirrors were supposed to be 78/later 'metric' car spec. They look close enough to be correct & the bases located the mirror head in the correct location for a good/proper view.

Yeah these look like they have a longer arm or neck whatever you wanna call it compaired to what I have. Are these originals or did you pull em off a different car?

Those are original Gbody mirrors....if I remember correctly pulled from a Malibu....or maybe it was a Monte.
