Yesterday I picked up a Metco driveshaft loop at the local speed shop for my wagon. Went to put it in today and it hits the floor.
What year did the floors in G bodies change ? I thought 78-81 had one shape and GM changed the hump from 82-88. Was I off a year ? My wagons an 82.
I had to modify the loop for my 81 to get it to fit.

I thought all the years were the same.

I have never had a loop hit the floor.

I think your floor is bent!!!!

My front loop lays right against the floor of my Malibu. It has rubbed the undercoating off in that spot. The dude that had it before me had welded 1" spacers to it to get it to clear the Regal. Turns out it was upside down or backwards or both, I can't remember.

The floor is the same from '78-'88 with what ever variances from the wear of the dies stamping them.

Not 100% sure about that. Just about all the loops made say they fit 82-88. I think the floors were shaped different for 78-81. I couldnt get a Metco to fit the 81. It wasnt even close. I sent it back and Rick sent me the materials and I modified the tabs, got it welded and it was perfect. Looks like I might have to do that all over again.

You do have to keep in mind that the '82 change to G from A causes alot to think they are different cars but they're not. It's simular to me posting afew months back about how in 1981 the Monte Carlo changes from a 3rd Gen to a 4th Gen when the 4th Gen A/G body didn't change at all other than all the special coupe bodies exterior sheet metal was restyled.

Mine is a UMI for 1982-88. It does fit my 1980. Tight, but it fits with no modification.
