I had read online that the drive shaft needs extended with a lift. How much longer does it need to be with a 4" lift?

why don't you out it in to see how it fits. With the 4" lift it will take a longer driveshaft so the extra 1/4" might work

I'm planning a trans swap so I was needing to know for the donor driveshaft. I found a couple cars with real close lengths to what a stock height car with the trans needs. 1/2" off

So with the 4" lift a half inch longer shaft is perfect?

Yes. The 3/4" slip is for installation of the driveshaft but you normally only use 3/8" for driving. Its always cheaper to shorten a driveshaft than to lengthen as a side note.

Also if you wish for further knowledge, check with 4x4 clubs in your area. I've built afew, 13", 11", 6", 5".

Sorry but got to ask, why didn't you C channel it ? Easiest way is to just cut area of frame leaving inside frame and then swapping sides with the metal an boxing exposed open ends in. Gives you at least 2" per side an that's about 12" wide tire. l think my Oldsmobile fits 10" without it.
Also the extra height will give you less traction an more force on the front end. Just my old head thoughts !

But your rig do as YOU see fit !
