Hey guys, ive been using dupli color vinyl fabric on my interior pieces with great results. Today I started to spray my carpet but noticed after it was becoming stiff to the touch. I was planning on doing my front and rear seats but curious to know first if anyone else has used the spray can on their seats with a good turn out.

Thanks

For seats: do several very light coats. Then go over the seat with a fine brush to break up the stiffness after its dry.

I have used it with nice results. I had bright yellow and blue vinyl seats and I wanted them black. I used the spray cleaner and then wiped them dry, then did several light coats with one heavier one at the end. At first, I was disappointed because I sprayed one of the seats and when it was dry some of the paint rubbed right off. So, I decided I would try it again and set the seat outside and got side tracked by other stuff. I came back an hour later and the seat was pretty hot from being in the sun all day. Best accident ever! The seat turned out amazing. Lesson: set them in sunlight and let them get hot and kind of soft and make sure they are clean. Good luck! If you don't have a sunny day, a strong heat gun might do the trick

Guys, a piece of advice from an old dude, I've been in the auto body and interior trim business since the 70's. Before dying vinyl, clean it with an alkali cleaner like Fantastik, let it dry, scuff it lightly with 600 sandpaper, blow or wipe it off, wipe down with lacquer thinner and spray as stated above with light coats then finish with a medium wet coat. Always use the clear that Dulpi color and SEM both sell, in whatever gloss you like, it will look and last 10x better. As for carpet and cloth, clean it with Fantastic and a brush, allow at least 24-48 hrs drying time, use very light coats with at least 10-15 minutes between coats, as mentioned use a brush to lightly separate the fibers about every 2-3 coats. Do not use any heavy coats on fabrics or carpet. It takes a bit longer, but patience is virtue this time.
