When I push down on the E-brake pedal it doesn’t catch. It just comes back up. The spring action is good, it just doesn’t lock like it should . Any ideas/remedies ?

Check the ratchet mechanisim on the pedal assembly that locks the pedal for a broke/unhooked spring or bent detent.

Check the teeth and the pawl. Make sure they're not boogered up. They're tough as all get out, so it's unlikely, but they are getting up there in age. Sounds like MAYBE the release pull catch spring is sprung or weak and not pulling the pawl back to engage the teeth of the pedal.

If you ever need to find a new one, they'll be under either p/n 1261658 or 25503396 for the parking brake control pedal assembly.
