Trying to see if I have this figured out how to post pics. If so, this is how my Elco looked when I picked it up 12/1/16

Other than the wheels, it was stock 350 TH 350 non posi 7.5 all the interior power options of the day. Factory gauges. Someone at sometime swapped out the factory 60/40 bench for some old 50/50 seat that never had headrests. The car lived most of it’s ( 37 years 77,000 miles) in California. The body and frame were rust free. I feel I got a fair deal at the time paying $3,600.00 for a car that had a brand new Pa inspection and made the one hour trip home with no problems

As for what I named this thread and the car. Even though it’s got a touch of the Nomad look now, I wasn’t going to go that direction with the name. It’s closer to the 64/65 Chevelle 300 2 door wagons/ 50s utility wagons. Before I started the conversion I was undesided about taking the back of the cab out or not. My wife helped me decide when she said NOT to. Thus the Utility part, plus I won’t have to heat or cool the bed.

The first mod I tackled was a custom hood. I’ve been bored to death cowl hoods for years and always loved the 67 Corvette big block Stinger hood. I didn’t care for the fiberglass one I found online. So I decided to make my own all steel one. I looked at ALOT of cars before settling on a Vega hood for the center hump. Then I bought the Goodmark cowl scoop. Cut and formed it like the Corvette scoop then welded it all together.

The next mod was flush door handles, good bye UGLIES. I had some new handles left over from the 99 Tahoe I redid a few years ago. Went to pic a part and cut the surrounding metal out of a few wrecked

It took me until May of 17 to find a G-Body wagon being dismantled for parts. The guy joined our forum just to unload his 80 Cutlass wagon. We agreed on a price and day. I rented a U-haul trailer, loaded up my tools and headed from Pgh Pa towards Cleveland Ohio. Even though it was fairly warm that Saturday, of course it just had to rain ALL Sure ain’t no fun using an electric grinder with a cut-off wheel and saws-all in the rain. By the time I was done I was shivering uncontrollably, that sucked. So I brought it home and started all the measuring and planning how I was going to do this by myself.

Funny man LOL, that was only temporary to prime it because at the time I didn’t want to pull all the remote cable out.
