Ok I just bought a 85 Monte Carlo ss. I soon relized after purchase that it wasn't the original motor fine. It's a 350 in it. Everything runs and starts up. Problem is lights no electrical is working nothing. A few things I noticed that work are when I push in the stop brakes they light on the dash turns on. That's it. I attached what wiring looks underneath. My guess is idk. I am a decent mechanic but idk. Any help with be appreciated. I believe they didn't attach the other electrical harness from the last engine to the new motor. But idk. Any help would be awesome. Ps. It does start and run . The only thing connected to the battery is the alternator , and starter.

If you do a search on here. There are several wiring schematics on here. My guess is, there is a couple power feed wires hooked up to the hot post of the starter. One of those is unhooked or bad fuseble link is bad. Look in that area first.

looks like someone really did a hack job on that wiring, if i were you i would pull out all of his BS and make sure where its taped up has no wires contacting eachother, also im not sure how advanced these cars wiring systems are but i would considering rewiring the whole thing or just getting a harness from another car.

That makes sense my dad put the starter on while I wasnt home and he said he saw it spark I believe . Idk. Wonder if he shorted the wire or if it's just exposed. But I gotcha

Your dear ol' dad might have popped the fusible link. I'm guessing he didn't teach you to unhook the battery first as he didn't do it himself.
Well I think that's what happen he was putting in schems for me but i fixed it at a little showing . Everything works but thw lights I believe that's the fuse box though getting my volt meter later and checking the wires but that fuse box kinda messed up some fuses show there should be 20 there's 10 so that may do the trick
