i bought a 350 from my freind to put in my monte and he says it is a gm crate motor i was wondering if there was any way to find out if it is or not

i got the number of the location by the water pump it was 1MO1128VP and i have no clue what it is cause most start with a letter then dates

Pull the valve cover & write down the head casting # & use this link. This MAY give you some clue by what heads are on it.

look on the driver side of the block behind the head and get the numbers from there if it only has 5.7 or no 7 diget numbet it is for sure a service parts engine look here for the number you find http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm
