I'm thinking of getting a new welder. I'm looking at the EASB rebel 215, Lincoln power mig 210 or Miller Multimatic 215. I just do basic car hobby welding right now, but want dual voltage input and the ability to add TIG later just in case.
Right now I'm leaning more towards the Rebel or Multimatic. The displays look more user friendly than the Licoln. Price and capabilities appears comparable between all three. Anybody have any experience good or bad with any of them.

Thanks,
Craig

Dad has an mp210 Lincoln.

They are only DC tig machines and scratch start since they don't have the high frequency AC start like a real syncrowave TIG. So no aluminum. Hasn't bought the tig torch yet so no experience besides MIG and ARC

If you want to do TIG and aluminum, buy an ATP or dedicated TIG and a hobart 210 mig for roughly the same price.

Dad has .035 wire in the MP210 and it isn't hot enough, needs .030 max in my experience.

Good information to know.

Right now I'm mostly looking at the MIG aspects since I just do hobbyist welding. I might try to dabble with the TIG side for sheet metal someday since I've heard it doesn't harden the metal as much. I doubt I'd try to TIG aluminum, I'll leave that to the professionals.

I actually just bought the multimatic 215 a few months ago and I have nothing bad to say about that machine, it is extremely user friendly! Mostly just used mig welding up the frame on my Monte and odd little projects around the house but I played around with stick when I first got it before I got gas. I like you was looking for something I could learn to tig with eventually and there's always the option to buy an aluminum spool gun if the day ever comes where i find myself needing to weld aluminum.

Don't bite my head off but have you seen the new Harbor Freight setups?

I have heard a handful of good reviews and they come with a one year trial period where you can return it anytime within a year for a full refund.

I actually hadn't thought of them. I've had mixed results with Harbor Freight over the years, mostly good though. I'll check it out.

A friend back home was a mechanic at a Polaris dealership for several years. He had bought some kind of power tool from there for around $80 (can't recall what exactly) that all the other mechanics in the shop had got from Snap-on or Matco for close to $400. They had to have theirs warrantied a couple of times and he never had a problem.

I have a Hobart mig welder I got from tractor supply Hobart has miller parts in it but is less expensive because the heat range is 4-6 choices depending on the model instead of the infinite control for heat on the miller.I just bought a miller tig welder off a guy on Craigslist it's a newer model with only 6 hours on It,came with a bottle I love it,I'm new to tig welding but this thing makes me look good at it lol
