exhaust pipe to heat riser gasket ?

is there supposed to be some kind of gasket/donut between the heat riser and exhaust pipe on a 79 Malibu with a 305 ?

for the EFE there is a donut for the y pipe side and a gasket on the other. Your parts store should have them in stock or order them in

On my '80 Malibu with the 305, I put a flat gasket between the heat riser and exhaust manifold, and no gasket between the Y pipe and the heat riser. Works just fine.

Most later heat risers have a ball flange to seal with the flair of the pipe flange. The older ones needed the donut.
