Currently I am battling the ideas inside my head about the big question: short headers or exhaust manifolds. For general performance I do understand that shorties will in most cases outrun manifolds, but they are less practical since they are always closer to other car parts than good old fashioned, tight cast manifolds. What matters more to me than performance is sound. I am currently looking to get a deeper, mellow V8 sound. The sidepipes do a good job in filtering out the high frequences, though acceleration still tends to make the exhaust pulses "scream" with the full length headers. Any suggestions on what can be done between the engine and the sidepipes?
