Hi everyone,

Noticed part of the wire is missing, i believe this relates to the starter?

Car starts and runs just don't feel comfortable seeing that.

Is it just a matter of replacing that bad wire? Is it connected to a linkedfuse?

Don't know what that thick rubber piece is

thank you

If those are the fusible links, replace them. Being the rgular wires in the harness, I would suggest replacing them too but for a short term/ temp fix you can coat the with some liquid electrical tape until the proper repair can be done.

Not sure what the harness in your car looks like but the black plastic barrel is the factory sealed butt connector. The fusible link is the wire coming out of it to the post on the starter. You can buy fusible link wire. It has to be 2 AWG sizes smaller than the wire its protecting. In other words the red factory wires to the starter is 12AWG so you'll need 16AWG link wire which is usually black.

New. I used the blue 14AWG because I was going to use 10AWG for the one side but in the end I switched to 12AWG so the blue link wire was changed to 16AWG black link wire. Easy to do with a crimp on butt connector and marine grade shrink tubing. Its important to keep the lengths of the link wire close to original.

Try to find marine shrink tubing. Its got an adhesive inside so when it heats up it sticks to the wire and connectors. Its good stuff.
