Does anyone still run their factory Olds painted 14 inch ralley wheels? Reason I ask is, I've got two sets of these wheels. I'd like to use them on my '79 Calais and am wondering what is the best tire size to run with a stock suspension set up. I am considering running them without the chrome trim ring, maybe a fine pinstripe in that area of the wheel. Any pictures or opinions would be helpful.

BFG has their Radial TA 235/60R14 and 245/60R14 sizes still available. They would give it a bit of the muscle car look.

I noticed they're still offered. They sure are proud of them. I wonder if anyone can take the centers from these 14 x 6's and place them into a 15 inch wheel. May not be cost effective.

They can, but it's not cost effective. The centers on those are the same as what's in the 15" 442 rims, just bigger rings/lips.

As for tires, a 235 or 245 is real wide for a 6" rim. They'll balloon the sidewalls. You can run them, I've seen them, but be forewarned about that unintended side effect.

If you like the stock look, and want a high quality tire that gives good fuel mileage, Michelin makes a 205/70/r14 in the defender series. It's around an 80,000 mile warranty rated tire with a 9/10 ratings for wet/dry and decent in light snow too.

Here ya go. I still use my 14x6 wheels until I get rubber for the 17's and do the brake upgrade. The tires are 245/60/14 BFG's, and as the guys mentioned they balloon on the sidewalls. A 225, or 235 would be better.

The 235/60R14 fit quite well on my factory 14 x 6 aluminum rims. The 245's did bulge quite a bit more but are the perfect 25.6" factory height according to BFG. Their tires seem to end short when measured. I currently have BFG T/A's 205/70R14's front and 235/60R14's rear. I actually am planning 225/70R14's on the rear since I plan on putting them on my 70S which have HUGE wheel wells, one of the advantages of A over the G body.

I have BFG's on my 14x6 SS II rims, 235 on the front and 245 on the back. The fronts look fine to me, but the back ones do bulge quite a bit. These tires were on it when I bought it and I do like the overall look, however the tires vibrate at highway speed because the bulging sidewalls have deformed from sitting too long before I bought the car. I want to keep the rims so I need to buy narrower tires.
