Factory Rock Guard on Front Fenders

Ok, while I was out in the shop today to take another picture, I recalled a discussion about some cars coming with front fender rock guard and some not.

Here's a pic of the factory-applied rock guard on my 85 442. Don't mind the dirt, it's been sitting for a long time. They did the front fenders. Note it is NOT a dent you see. It's the "perfectly aligned" tape job for when they applied the guard. Friggin' quality control was virtually non-existent.

My 1987 Monte Carlo LS has the two tome factory paint. Top black and bottom is gray. Interesting part is that all of the gray from the behind the front wheels back under the chrome is the rock chip stuff. Forward of the front wheels is not.

I've seen that rock guard all the way up to the stripe on an H/O on one side and the other side it was about 3/4" down on Al Wrobles car.

GM wasn't careful...
