Factory sunroof won’t close fully

I’ve got an 81 cut supreme with a factory sunroof in it

Problem is it doesn’t close all the way anymore (the front touches but the back doesn’t push up tight, stops just short of that bit) and a couple different shops have told me the rails are stripped and it’s a part that was discontinued in 82

Has anyone else encountered a problem like this?
And has anyone got any suggestions?

I would like it to work properly
I’ve seen a couple YouTube videos of guys installing sunroofs from vans and such cutting out the entire roof

But I’d rather a simpler option if available

Otherwise maybe it’s time to close it up and downgrade to the full solid top
