The Street Demon is a new 3 barrel castings with a bunch of improvements including an aerospace polymer body without the main jets screwed into it, unlike the old Bakelite phoneolic body of the Thermoquad.

That was my first thought... "Wasn't 86 still the curved grilles not the flat ones?" (Always liked the curved grilles better).

Meh... maybe a 87 front clip. Seen plenty of times the car was listed as a 79 Trans Am with a 77-78 front clip because they looked WAY better.

Welcome to the site. Youtube adjusting a carb.. its not that bad.

I hate the 79 headlights. Ruins the whole look of the car imo.

I believe it. Not really liking this carb so far. If I were to upgrade should I go Holley or Edelbrock for a mild street/future weekend warrior build?

Why? The reviews and members on other forums who have run them like them. I would put one on any day over a POS Edelbrock carb, many have had issues with them. Supposedly the castings just aren't as good as the original Carter carbs. Of course that still doesn't fix the known hot start issues, known since the 60's, I think part of the reason they went with a bakelite body on the the Thermoquad. I had a Thermoquad, my issue with it was the Mickey Mouse choke and then the well o rings went. They also eliminated that fail point as well. I know some people don't like the Qjet either, Cutlassefi doesn't care for them, he has tried multiple custom, "expert" tuned Qjet's on the dyno, the A/F ratio was all over the place, a real complaint. A valid reason is a valid reason.

If you want it to run worse, go Edelbrock. Get a Quickfuel Slayer 600 if the motor is very mild, Slayer 750 if it is on the hotter side. They are a very tunable carb for the money.

A nicely rebuilt Qjet is best for a "street/future weekend warrior"..

Hell yea, let's make it happen!
I'm this close to getting my regal road worthy. just finished the top end rebuild and chasing down one more issue, then i will be comfortable driving it on the highway

I only know of a couple guys with G-Bodies up here in palm beach. i know in Miami alot of guys turned theirs into lowriders or dunks. not really my thing, but to each his own.
i will talk to them
if you know some people, lets do it. im sure it will grow from there
