How you fix a ticking coming from your left side valve cover lifters of my 305 engine of 85 pontiac grand

First, a can or two of "lifter quiet". That may clean it and quiet it down. If so then when it does change the oil. If not, time to open the cover and see if the rocker got loose. If so then replace the jam nut and tighten to specs. If not then the lifter is shot and engine must be opened to change it. At that point you might as well change them all.

Probably a simple rocker adjustment.

My Monte's 305 had a lifter tick so I fixed it by installing a 565 Big Block in it's place,
