So I’m doing the floor shifter conversion into my 86 Monte Carlo SS but I’m having an issue with adjusting the cable so it can go into gears . It seems either the cable is too short or the bracket but I can’t figure out which is the problem . I uploaded the picture of the bracket I have . Please let me know whether the bracket is incorrect or the cable .

What model are the cable, shifter and bracket from?
I bought the cable online it’s about 29 inches long . The shifter is stock oem off a 86ss and the bracket I ordered it from dixies restoration it’s the one in the photos I uploaded .

The cable looks different than what I recall. It's tough to look up the right one with the TH200-C listings blurring the issue.

What I found was the 85-87 GP and 85-88 Monte console shift had the same cable # at Napa. The TH200-C cable was all plastic. The 200-4R cable was a metal ring that was clipped into the bracket.

Your bracket looks correct.

I was told this cable would fit fine but I was told wrong it is too short . I’ve seen cables that measure up to 30 31 inches I am going to try one of those I just wanted to see if I might need a new bracket as well .

I can measure my donor 87 oem setup, here are pics of where the mount and hole should be. It a cutlass so it has a front mount, rear mount and hole are the same across the lines.

Looks like the bracket is the correct one and in the correct position.
Looks like the incorrect cable
The cable needs to have an extended length of 6.5 inches from trans bracket to eye at trans, and a collapsed lenght of 3 inches at shifter in park. In first at trans it needs 4.5 and 5.25 at shifter.
Cable is 17 inches clip to clip and 26.5 end to end with 2 inches of throw

The trans (2004R), shifter, cable and bracket are all OEM out of an 87 SS Monte carlo
The 700R4 and 2004R have the same dimensions for input shaft position ,pan bolts for bracket
Fbody cables are much bigger at trans bracket
