Just a little fyi..bought some belltech rear 1 inch springs for my malibu..same part # for monte carlos..got the box and on the side the part is for 68-72 chevelles. So im assuming one could buy stock 68-72 chevelle springs and presto..save some bucks.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. I think I've read somewhere about using A-body rear springs in a wagon and other G-body's.
How firm are these springs in your car?
Are you also going to be using air bags as well?

Probably not right now, since i dont haul but one person typically.I like the ride with me or one passenger, its not bouncy but its firm.I have new shocks also.I looked into the air bags a little, not sure if the expense is worth it to me now.

If you're not doing any heavy duty hauling, you're probably alright with the set-up you have currently. The airbags are pretty much a supplemental aid if you do plan on hauling a load, and/ or towing a trailer.
I would suppose the A-body springs are stiffer than the stock wagon springs. I have cargo coils in mine. The car sits alittle too high for my liking. However, I've towed vehicles and had the rear loaded down with several hundred pounds of body panels (5-doors, tailgate, bumpers, fenders, etc.
I would consider going with the A-body springs...maybe adding the air bags later.

Could just get air shocks would be much cheaper.

I just put old, used Caprice springs in the back of my El Camino- it sits waaaaaay too high now.

I drove the car with a 160lb 20yr old in the back and it bottomed out at slow speeds.i have some rear cargo coil over shocks im going to try this week to see if it helps.

I have 1983 pontiac phoenix springs in the rear. I have cut 1 coil off and use the F body isolators. The pre cut springs are rated at 162 lbs, it rides nice and here how it looks..

Should mine have top and bottom rubber cushions? or just upper? Mine has uppers only.
i went to napa and got 2 upper cushions to use on the spring mounts on the differential. they fit like a glove. the car doesn't come with the lowers from the factory. i was trying to avoid scratching my powder coating off the mounts.
