Hello,
in my Opel Diplomat the original machine had been crushed long time ago and was replaced with a GM 5,?? Motor.

I found the motor plate showing this
V0313AKH - 2KL246202

Do you have any informations to
- for what car this machine had been built
- which ccm this machine has got?

Thank you very much for this information which is in need for the german TÜV (... which always wants drivers of GM to be thrown out of there office ... arrrgh).
Best greetings,
Pit

This picture is of a post 1987 Chevrolet small block. This is indicated by the center bolts on the valve covers. The intake and carb are after market, not GM Parts. The exhaust manifolds are original GM Parts, but could be from many different vehicles. Most common size would be 5.0L or 5.7L used in millions of Chev/GMC trucks and passenger cars from '87 through 98. Very difficult to determine specific displacement without more info. Distributor is GM style HEI. I think TUV will probably give you a hard time over this. Seems like I remember the possibility to "buy" an exception for a specific TUV requirement. That may be out of date since it was from 40 years ago. Good Luck.

LO3 engine code 305 rated at 170hp. Assuming it's all stock inside, it's got pretty weezy heads and a dinky roller cam. Lots of room for improvement. You can only make it better.

Didn’t know they built a monte in 89....

Did a google search, and interestingly enough, those were built new with Chevy v8’s (4.6 liters)

Whatever it is, ditch it and search for a stock engine.
The early 4-door Diplomat 'A' model had the 283 (4.6 ltr.) with 2-speed Powerglide, while the 346 built 'A' coupés had a 327 (5.4 ltr.) with Powerglide.
Yours is the later 'B' Diplomat, which came stock with the 327 (5.4) engine, TH400 transmission and Corvette rear end placed in the DeDion rear axle.
The stock 327 had the Opel engine designation '54S' stamped in the block on the passenger side in front of the head, above the water pump:

It's rated at 230HP (DIN PS), which should be around 300HP gross rating (SAE). The engine is said to be a Corvette variant.
Many of the stock engines died a full throttle, high speed death on German Autobahns and where replaced by used 350's, so finding a car with it's original engine still in place is hard. However, there are engines popping up on ebay from time to time that are worth rebuilding.
A period correct 350 swap should be no problem with the TÜV and the H-registration since it has been common and possible already in the 80's. If you look for a period correct engine you can use the following Opel Umrüstkatalog from Opel (which should be available at bigger TÜV stations like Munich-Garching) where the Diplomat B is cleared by Opel for up to 280HP (DIN).
Normally, any carburated small block Chevy engine should fly, there aren't a lot of inspectors left who know how the original engine looks like (i.e. centerbolt valve covers post 1985). Only thing drawing attention could be aftermarket intake and carb.
