What makes a 6th gen (73-79) f series pickup a ranger? Badge only? Options? How can I check if it actually is?

Afaik it has a 390, it's 2wd, has an LSD, I'm sure it's a 76 cause of the exposed gas cap, and it has AC/PS/PB. Manual windows. Sliding bench.

Any input appreciated.

Custom, Ranger and Ranger XLT for 73-77. Not really any huge difference in them aside from trim level. XLTs are easier because they have more "stuff" trim-wise (tailgate insert panel, red badge on center of grille surround, blackout on dash).

My favorite generation of "modern" (post '56) F series trucks...owned a couple.

They have gotten stupid expensive down here for SWB versions...
