Fouled Plugs. Burning Oil.

His where easy to tell. We removed the headers and could see it was wet on exhaust valves. Then once we removed intake it was noticable there to. But was more pronounced on exhaust valves because it tends to bond and build up. Not sure of any sure way of telling other then a little rip down.

I would start with a compression check first to rule out a ring/piston problem. Then if that checks out ok. Then look further.

one of my buddys said bad intake gaskets could cause a vaccum leak and suck oil in that way?

Has anyone had that problem?

Compression guage gave at least 110 across all cylinders btw

Bad intake gasket could do it. But i highly doubt thats the problem not to common on a chevy to suck oil. More prone to leaking oil out across the front and back of lifter valley and the center 2 intake bolts on each side if sealent wasnt used tend to pool oil around the because these are the only bolts tapped straight through the head into lifter valley. Thats if your not running vortec heads that the intake only mounts on the outer for corners. The intake gaskets used on vortec intakes are plastic now they tend to have problems internally. The older head to intake gaskets seal nicer imo.

Best way to check to see if you have an internal vacuum leak is to hook up a vacuum gauge and watch the needle. If it jumps around a lot then you have a problem. But if its pretty steady you'll be fine. Or plug plug off breathers , PCB diptube, oil fill, and feel if there is suction on one of the grommets.

The only time I had an intake suck oil was when block was milled too much and one side was milled more then the other. But it smoked like a crop duster. I put avert of felpro double thick intake gaskets on and it fixed it.

Yea I got it. Took the intake off the ports were coverd in oil on both sides. It looked like my gaskets dissapered lol
Cleaned em off. New gaskets. Bought good ones this time. Ran it for a few hours and perfect. No fouled plugs no smoke

Guys i need help again lol. Recently my 350 sbc ive had to pull my plugs after each trip cuz they are fowled with oil like wet. If its ran then shut off and sat for 20 or so minutes and started again it smokes for a few seconds then clears right up. And if i hold the throttle about 2000 rpm i notice a glitch like a tiny missfire every couple seconds. And i gotta change my oil all the time cuz it starts smelling like gas. Motor only has about 10,000 miles or so since it was built but only started this like a few months ago. Can anyone help please? lol thanks guys

I have never heard of valve cover gaskets causing what you described

thats cuz it wasnt valve covers it was intake gaskets.
