Hi all,
I am replacing my 1986 Monte Carlo SS frame that was tweaked bad in the front with a 1984 frame. Is there any benefit in using any of the mounts or plates from the old frame to double up or reinforce the new frame? I will be boxing it and adding the transmission extension as this one does not have it. Also, I have three bad body mount holes. I was thinking of just cutting out the good ones from the bad frame and welding in those instead of using the washers. whats your opinion on that?

Re-using body mounts (the metal surface) is a good idea if that portion of frame is in good shape. Re-enforcing by stacking wouldn't be my 1st choice. If I were going to reinforce an area, I would use something that is specifically designed to properly do the job.

I would probably start by boxing in the C channel but leaving access to install body mounts and then re-weld any questionable factory welds, as far as repairing body mount areas I would prefer new metal so either washers or fab up your own repair plates.
There are plenty of weld in reinforcements from various aftermarket vendors that can help stiffen the frame and suspension points or you can fabricate your own.
