Anyone change the front two steel or hard line brake lines with the engine in the car?

Anything in the way any pointers???

Took the Cutlass out for it's first drive since its back together made it to the end of the block hit the brake went to the floor .

Pass side hard line gave way.

Thanks

I am glad you and your car made out safely after losing your brakes. I have not replace the line with the engine in place but if you have trouble with a prefabricated line you could always lift the engine a few inches to see if that helps or use cunifer brake line which is easy to bend with your hand.

I replaced all of the brake lines on my Regal with Cunifer tubing and don't recall having any issues working around the stock 307.
The hardest part was making the line that crosses over to the passenger side since it has so many bends but the R & R didn't give me any issues.

Yup, I did this last winter. Was no trouble at all. Engine was stillin the car and cross over pipe still intact. Had no troubles at all. I replaced mine with the left & right hard steel front brake lines from Inline tube after I buggered up my originals during my 2WD Blazer Brake upgrade. As I recall Inline Tube was the only vendor selling these separately.

Thanks

I bought pre bent front set from Right Stuff.

I could have got IN-Line's version a little cheaper but after getting there pump to carb line for the Olds that was bent completely different from the original,

and had to be "corrected"

I didn't want to have the same issue with the brake lines

I replaced them with the engine in, but the body was off so I don't know if that counts...

A tad off topic but since Turna brought it up, Inline tubing shows they have 2 different fuel lines for VINY and VIN9 which is STUPID. GM didn't need 2 different lines. It's the same friggin' part number. Per the 6-87 parts book, 22506485 (B, E, G [307Y, 9]). Wow. List price was $1.50 back in 1987,

Best thing is when I asked them what was the difference between the two, they couldn't tell me!!
