Will a fuel sending unit from a grand national fit in a regular regal tank ? Or do I have to do a external fuel pump for my ls swap ? And how many lines come out of The stock carburetor tank just a fuel line and a breather? Since there’s no return on a carb ?

A GN sender works. I would skip the stock EFI tank, unless you can find a turbo tank; their baffling is much better. Use a Hydramat on a Walbro pump.

So I can use the stock tank with the gn sender what size walbro pump ? It’s a stock 4.8 ls

I'll finally put this internal gas tank subject to rest. The tanks on the 84-87 turbo Regals had a molded plastic internal sump like this one I cut out of my original GN tank that rusted out.
I have hands on an EFI tank from an 86 Monte Carlo with a 4.3 V6 as that is what I put in my father's 88 Monte SS when I did the Turbo Buick swap on it. That was 18 years ago and I can't remember what the baffle looked like. I never had starvation issues when it was low on gas so it's possible it had the same tank baffle.

I am currently restoring my 87 GN and the replacement "baffled" tank was purchased on Ebay back in 2015. It had the same part# of the Spectra but it came painted (which the Spectra tanks do not) and was bare metal inside with no plating or terne coating.
I recently bought another tank. This time it was a genuine Spectra with the baffle. It had the coating and it has the update baffle. I have pics to show the differences.
Here is the earlier replacement with the shallow "pie plate" baffle that is not like the factory baffle in anyway. I included pics of the part # stamped into the first tank as my assumption is that it is an Asian clone of the earlier Spectra tanks.

Now here is the baffled Spectra tank I recently purchased. Note the how deep and tall the internal baffles are. They do a really good job of duplicating the factory plastic baffle which surrounds the in tank pump. I will be testing this tank at the track later this year with my 10 second GN.

Thank you for posting those pics. I am 100% sure that my kid has a version like the 1st pics. I am a tiny bit skeptical about the float being able to swing in its arc, the dog dish in the bottom seemed to be kinda tight on the fuel sock and on the float when I was putting the assembly into the tank. If that makes any sense...:cautious:

The sock can typically be clocked on the pump if there are clearance issues.

It had the little peg and star washer retainer deal, so there was no option for clocking it. I battled the thing for a while and finally decided that this was the only way it could go, gn tank, gn fuel pump hanger deal, .... finally was like "send it!".
