Has anyone modified or found an aftermarket a/c box that gives you more room under the hood?

I know ArizornaGN sells an absolutely ugly HIGH price tag aftermarket box

Love to see some pic of the ac box modifications.

Thanks

I've been reading threads all of the internet. As far as the aftermarket, I won't say the execution is simple, but in theory, remove the original heater box. Make sure that your current components are in good working order (condenser and compressor). From there, you can choose any of the 5 or so aftermarket companies for an evaporator (restomodair, vintageair, etc...). Get an a/c block off plate, modify it to stick out 2-3 inches (as in the threads above), then use the bulkhead fittings.

I can't get any serious volume out of my a/c and I've had it in 3 or 4 times replacing all switches. It seems like I need a stronger more powerful blower motor... does anyone know of a more powerful unit that I can replace mine with....it probably has to do with the ductwork and my chevy fan trying to blow through my Pontiac dash....has anyone else encountered this problem? and if so how did you address it? Al

There was a member (I forgot his name), used an aftermarket HVAC setup and it eliminated the entire stock airbox. It was mounted inside the car under the dash...much more compact unit. ..and it cleaned up the firewall. The hoses went thru the firewall...that was the only things exposed. I believe it was either from Vintage Air or another offshoot company. I think it was a universal streetrod setup. Very clean installation. I believe there was some modifications that had to be done.

Al,
I also think the blower motor could use an upgrade. The A/C works fine, but it just doesn't blow as hard as newer cars.
I am also using a Pontiac dash, so we're in the same boat.

Yeah, that's the guy...Andrew, I think his name was.
That's too bad hearing that the company went belly up.
That's a neat setup.

I'm wondering if one of those hang from the dash units set up in parallel with the factory unit would work? A buddy just bought a complete unit for his 57 ford project for $300....I think all I would need is the evaporator and some custom hose fittings....anybody know if this would work?
