G Bodies Collector Cars of the future??

To add my two cents to the conversation, Id say that the Gbody line of cars will be the last of the collectables. Why? Rear wheel drive, V-8 power, bucket seats, full frames, and a ride that bridged the gap between luxury and performance. Sure, theres always gonna be a Ford Mustang finatic who's gonna scream and holler about them and their performance capabilities/per dollar...etc. But the Fox body mustangs and those that have followed were just not very well made and the cost to keep them original doesnt seem practical. Most of them ended up as race cars or scraped, so there not much demand for parts to restore them. Not the case with the Gbody. 20yrs from now, there will be the obvious Corvettes, rare WS6 Pontiacs, and some boosted ricer cars in demand...but the Gbody will stand tall because it represented the end of an era...the last of the best GM could or would build.

Of course, in 20yrs, most cars will be driven by computers w/gps and the saturday night stop light to stop light drags will be just a memory.

It would be a very cold day down below before I would show up at a car show in a Hyundai, I do not take any credit for the lack of taste in some cars of my generation! And that 2014 corvette, sorry GM dropped the ball, its a Ferrari 599 with Corvette badging; my opinion Corvette lost their classic pedigree when they gave up on their design. The G-body in my opinion is the last true muscle and last body style to actually have some bodylines, I have no doubt that these cars are and will be more valuable original, why change something that was right from the start.( this is in the case when we find our cars in a repairable state to go to original)

Of course, in 20yrs, most cars will be driven by computers w/gps and the Saturday night stop light to stop light drags will be just a memory.
I defiantly don't agree with engineers doing this... who here is comfortable with a drive by wire steering and braking systems that is coming in the next year and in some of the BMW's now?

I think predicting future popularity is difficult. But I think that base model g-bodys will be restored as clones of the high dollar models just as we see happening today with the rest of the old cars. Some owners will always appreciate originality regardless of performance, while others would cut up an original paint car to build what they want. I think that will never change.
