Figured I would start another thread and show my progress on my front brake set up. You can use either LS1 Calipers (which would have saved me a little money, cause they can be found at the yard), or as I am (for now) C5/C6 corvette calipers. The caliper part of this only changes one minor detail (which is to use c5/c6 shims for the PAB, with LS1 pad springs simple). My particular calipers are C5 Z06. My setup will be completed with C6 Z51 rotors, which are approx 13.39". I will update the thread, as I get further along... I haven't found a thread specific to C6 Z51 Rotors, but this has been done (C5/C6/LS1/C6Z06 front brake set up) before by many other people... I am simply making a thread on how I did it and how much its costing me! I need to pick up my front rotors and pads and braided lines to have this wrapped up...

If people are interested, send my a pm, I will be putting together a complete set of brakes fronts/rears for a good price as time allows me! there is a cheaper way to do this as far as brackets, but these are the brackets i wanted (the other brackets Im having made for about a third of the quarter of the cost of these)

Anyhow, I began my journey by pulling a set of 98-02 2wd Blazer (dual piston caliper) front spindles and hubs, approx $90 total (for both sets, driver and passenger side), this is pictured with the front LS1 calipers, which can be used with the C5/C6 and C6 Z51 PABs (pad abutment brackets)...

gave my spindles to my Bro ElCo Warren and he did an amazing job cleaning them up and even sand blasted them for me...

I am using Brand New, C5 Z06 calipers, but with C6 Z51 PABs...
picked up the brand new calipers (in the boxes) for $125 (LS1 calipers would have costed me around $66 for the fronts, but I would have to put the El Co Warren touch on them, look in my El Co thread to see how his are coming out, unless he is willing to post some picts in here of them, they look just as good as my Corvettes, if not better, Im just lazy!)

Re: G Body Front Brake Upgrade (13.4" Rotors)

I paid a little more than I could have, or possibly should have because I have done business with Kore3 before and love their company... i could have made the brackets or either purchased them cheaper, but Tobin over there made my experiences with the company extremely positive... and I don't mind paying more for that! and getting something I know will work and from a company that stands by their products!

anyhow...

picked up the following, for $276 (if you just want the 12.8" fronts, then you just need the regular C5/C6 PABs and that would be around $40 less, if you use the blazer dust shields and just cut the center out, the only part you need, thats another $20 less), if you just need the brackets and hardware its $115:
-C6 Z51 PABs
-C6/C5 adapter brackets to the Blazer Spindles
-all necessary mounting hardware for the brackets to spindle and PAB to spindles, incl. thread locker
-New spindle washer/shim, to delete dust shield (you can cut the oem shield if you wanna save $20)
-shipping

Re: G Body Front Brake Upgrade (13.4" Rotors)

the brackets fit like this:

only mod for us, is a small notch on the spindle (took me literally 1 minute to notch both with my grinder, can use a dremel or even a file, if you dont have a power tool...

here is the back of the spindle, with the bracket shown mocked up, you can see that the gold allen head bolt on the left of the picture barely hits the spindle...

got the spindles all primered up and ready for paint, was a shame to cover up Warrens hard work, in cleaning them (should have just tried to clear them, but i want them black and to not draw much attention to that area)...

all of the bolts are M14x2.0, when final assembly is done they should be torqued between 125-135. The caliper mounting bolts get thread locker, the bolts and locking nuts dont...

Re: G Body Front Brake Upgrade (13.4" Rotors)

Big Bro came through and kicked it with me for a sec. I had pulled a set of spindles for his project so we decided to re mock the brackets back up... the bolt (that i notched my spindle for on my setup) actually threads all the way in with a little more force (by hand), so it doesnt even really need to be notched, i suggest test fitting first... we ended up smoothing down that section on his and it looks much cleaner to me (not that you will see any of that anyway) ****ing Warren leave it up to him to figure something out, "bro why dont you just shave a little off the top, would look cleaner", b*st*rd, where were you when I was notching the hell outta my spindles.... anyhow...

Re: G Body Front Brake Upgrade (13.4" Rotors)

total so far (will update this post as I buy the rest, I think i just need the braided brake lines i want, which I am buying the Kore3 stuff and I need pads and C6 Z51 rotors): $491 (including spindles and hubs)

I know that when all said and done, this will be worth around $1300 give or take a little! for a lot less (working man's budget)
