I'm looking for a new set of headers. which ones have you guys and gals bought that had the best fit. the ones i have on my wagon, i believe are from a s-10 v8 swap. they dont quite fit well in front of the a-arms on the passenger side. any input would be appreciated

I originally had flowtech afterburners on the car, great fit and easy install, but they didn't line up with my jegster trans x-member, so had to go with dynomax... fit and finish isn't as nice, but they work.....

since I went cheap, I would really suggest considering the ceramic coated ones... by the time i get enough temp wrap, and mess around with installing said wrap on the already mounted headers, it would have been just as much to upgrade...

I'll stick to manifolds before I use regular painted headers. I'm getting ceramic coated or not at all. not only does it protect the headers from rusting into a fine powder in a couple years, it also acts as a thermal barrier (Jet-Hot's ceramic coating) keeping the engine compartment cooler. this also allows the exhaust gases to keep flowing quickly, more scavenging effect results. it helps keep the headers from burning the plug wires too. And they look all perty and shiny like, who doesn't like nice looking parts?

I'm not sure if other ceramic coatings can do what the Jet-Hot coating does but Jet-Hot will coat your headers so you can get a pair that fit well and send them out to get coated by them if other coatings don't have the same characteristics as Jet-Hot's. You can test fit your headers and whatever alterations need to be made with a hammer can be done so you're not hammering on already coated headers. I think the added expense for ceramic coating is worth it in general.

just put a set of coated Flowtech's on my '87 SS, fit, sound and look great. worth the extra dough to get the coated ones of your choice. I'll be changing out the bolts that were provided for a set of the locking stage 8's as I've blown the gasket on one port.

I have hedmen hedders on my 81 Malibu, Great fit and I have never blown a gasket. my one and only problem with them is to service or remove the starter the header has to be unbolted from the motor and the exhaust. Ive heard replacing the stock starter with a mini starter will stop the problem. Im also looking for headers for my 78 El Camino and havent decided which headers to buy, Hedmen elite #68318 $369.97 or Flowtech # 31104FLT $279.99 . With a $90.00 differents, Im thinking about the flowtechs and hope I dont have any problems.
