Any experience with how these fit? I hear good things but a supplier may have sent me the wrong part. On Amazon a speed shop (no names at this point) advertised 78-88 G-body fit and it includes a frame rail extension which I need. My 1984 El Camino must be one of the early models with the short frame extension. But when I got the part the label reads 78-83 G Body. My car came with a TH 350 and I plan to swap in a 2004R. I'm guessing this unit will not work. I'm guessing I need an 84-88 unit with a frame extension.

I'll call G-force tomorrow to be sure, just hoping the supplier won't enforce the rule that I have to pay for return shipping, this is not my fault.

If you are installing a 200R4 then you need a Gbody crossmember for a 200R4 regardless if you need a frame extension or not or what year your car is.

First whats the p/n, second when you odered did you cross check with G-Force's website to ensure they seller had their info correct? Might have to slide it under the Elky (on cardboard to protect it) & see where the drivers side mount holes line up at to ensure it's correct. It is possible they forgot/mis-packed the extender.

We bought a Jegs house brand that was off a little on one bolt hole. It was easily rectified and the unit was less than $150. It would only go into the later model frame with mount extensions.

To answer your question though - the G-Force works and fits properly.

I went from a M22 to a 2004R and have dual exhaust in my 79 Cutlass with a 455. I dont remember which brand of crossmember I bought but it came with two extension pieces to move the crossmember reward just a little bit to make the 2004R fit.

Looks like I dodged a bullet. I called the manufacturer today and the cross member I bought is good for my application. They tell me for the 2004R the actual cross member is the same from 78-88. The part number I bought ended with a 'K' which indicates it comes with a frame extension. That's the only difference. My 84 Elco must be an early model so I need that frame extension. If not I just won't use it and I can sell it, no worries. Shipping this back would have been a expensive, this thing is heavy

Oh how I wish I had the space and resources to build my car frame off.
