I filled up this morning at a Sunoco and I don't normally fill there, but I noticed they are now Top Tier certified. I know they were holding out on Top Tier for a pretty long time, but I looked it up and it looks like they got the certification back in 2017.

Also they had a notice on the pump that in an effort to keep prices down, they wouldn't be selling summer blend gas this year. And looking this up, it looks like most or all counties in Pennsylvania got a waiver exempting stations from selling summer blend gas, with the exception of Allegheny County (Pittsburgh). But according to the county, they won't be enforcing the sale of summer blend gas so stations can still sell the standard gas without consequence. So I guess we are getting shitty gas this summer? I'm wondering if and how this will affect vehicles. Are any other states doing this?

I don't understand why the price goes up to switch to Summer gas- then the price goes up to switch to Winter gas. Which is it? Oh wait- it's the gas industry- prices always go up and never come down. We're bumping up to $3 right now and the world is awash with crude. What BS.

the governments will never honestly investigate gas prices, the higher the price the more tax $$ they get out of your pocket. In Canada if the gas is at $0.82.2 per liter we pay $0.35.9 in taxes on top of the price per liter

We also meet the top tier spec. We switch from Summer to Winter here but it is not mentioned at the pumps. We also have Summer and Winter diesel at the Coop. Supposedly a 20 percent loss using Winter vs Summer but -40C demands its use. We start filling tanks with Summer diesel in February. This year it was cold as hell and Summer fuel is supposed to be only good till -14C or it starts gelling. We had to carefully pick days where we could fill tanks.

Between the Arabs and the politicians, the oil industry is full of shady deals and scumbags. It's all a racket, but the summer gas is supposed to be a better quality product. Top Tier is definitely better than regular. Around here Shell, Exxon, BP, Costco Kirkland, and now Sunoco are Top Tier.

I can get VP 100 and 110 octane but it is leaded and runs about $9 a gallon last time I bought it.

I guess we aren't getting the summer blend this year though. In PA we pay something's like 58 or 59 cents a gallon in tax. It's the highest in the US. I paid 3.25 a gallon for 87 this morning.
