Hello there, everyone!

I've got a new-to-me 87 El Camino that requires some love prior to putting her on the street. One of the issues is the gauge cluster where multiple gauges are effected. First, the tach spins about 360 degrees on startup and stays there. The oil pressure gauge drops out and returns to sit at various incorrect pressures, and the batt and temp behaves the same.

Is there something of a common issue that would affect the whole cluster? Perhaps a shared ground or power that can cause this type of behavior?

Thanks for your time!

Sounds likes grounds.. you may want to pull the cluster and clean all the gauge connections/nuts on back of the cluster and see if that helps.

Agree with leftlaneonly look for ground issues for the oil, batt and temp. The tach might have more serious issues, fix the other gauges first and then see what the tach does.
