Gbody rear end question.

I know this topic has been beat to death.. But......
I've been searching for an 8.5 to swap into my 79 Malibu. I know every one says that the 8.5 was only In the gn's and 442's. but ive found these in regular cutlasses and buick regals rear cover size 11x10-1/4 non posi. are these the 8.5 ring gear? I want a direct swap rearend. no 9" or fox body.

An easy way to spot a true 8.5 housing is that there are no fangs on the bottom center section. Take a look at any 7.5" and you will see them.

when you find a car around 30 years old you don't know what has been changed, if the regualr G bodies have the 8.5 rear that was installed by one of the former owners
