It’s been a while since I’ve updated my build thread, and it’s been closed up now. New baby, new job and all that life stuff slowed things down for a bit.

The project has begun to ramp back up again though. Recently I completely rebuilt the heater box.

The guy doing the steel work on the body has been sending me some pics and it’s starting to get me excited. All rust repair is pretty much complete and he’s now neck deep in the mini tubs. Notice the entire package tray cut out.

He’s worked with/for some of the big name shops in northern Illinois and now has his own little shop. So far, the quality of work is awesome and I’m glad I picked him. Once the steel work is complete, the tub will be off for e-coat.

I’ll need to have the motor trans situation figured out here shortly too, I want those planted on the frame before setting the body back on it.

Heater box looks great. Any chance you could do a writeup on it?

The metalwork looks top notch. What did they do to strip the body down?

I’ve got a handful of pics of the heater box work, so yeah I can write it up.

The body was acid dipped. It’s a little pricey but does a great job of taking off all paint, seam sealer, rust, etc without damaging the base metal.

Hutch (oldsonofb) already did an extensive write up and videos on the HVAC case resto.

Cool project. Tuned in. Looks like you found the right guy to do the metal work. His work looks great. Going to have to circle back to your original thread. I think the mods/admin can merge this with your original thread if you want.

I must've missed that. After I get these hydraulics for my Cub Cadet 3000 series finished I think that is my next project for the bench.
