Glovebox Lock/Latch Removal

OK, what's the magic trick to get the lock/latch *ss'y out of the glovebox lid? I see the little hole in the top of it, but can't seem to trip the magic lever inside to get it to come apart....

I'll take a look at mine later if no one comes up with the way it comes apart but I was thinking you might have to use the key to release it...just a thought..
