Hey everyone, I found an old Hurst shifter out of a 79 firebird. Same transmission as in my 78 Cutlass. I had planned to put in one of my B&M shifters but nicer touch with Hurst. I plan on keeping my bench seat as I like it. The Hurst was in a console so I know that I'll need to modify, build a box or something. My question is in the linkage. It is a cable but since the shifter won't be as far back as in a console, will it still work? I won't be able to have it as far back with keeping the bench seat. Unsure if adjustments can be made to the cable, etc. Or, just go B&M. Thoughts?
